There are moments that make you stop, look back and think: we’re doing something right.
For Iber&Co, receiving recognition from ICEX Spain Export and Investment is one of those moments. Not because we like shiny titles — although, let’s be honest, they’re nice — but because it means something deeper: the Spanish food, products and culture we share every day in Malta are part of a bigger story.
A story about bringing Spain beyond its borders.
A story about family, product, hospitality and identity.
A story that, for us, started around a table.

What Does This ICEX Recognition Mean?
ICEX Spain Export and Investment is the Spanish public body that supports the internationalisation of Spanish companies and promotes the image of Spain abroad.
For Iber&Co, this recognition highlights our role in helping Spanish gastronomy travel — not as a trend, not as a postcard version of Spain, but as something real, alive and worth sharing.
From our taberna in Valletta to Casa Pepa in Naxxar, we work every day to bring authentic Spanish flavours closer to people in Malta.
And that means more than serving tapas.
It means representing the producers, traditions and stories behind every product.
More Than a Restaurant: A Spanish Home in Malta
Iber&Co has always been a taberna first.
A place where people come for jamón, tortilla, croquetas, wine and that feeling of being welcomed without too much ceremony. The kind of place where a quick dinner can become a long night, and where sometimes the music goes up and someone ends up clapping along.
But over time, Iber&Co has grown into something more.
Today, our project brings together:
- A Spanish taberna in Valletta
- Gourmet Spanish products through Casa Pepa
- Wine tastings and cultural experiences
- Catering for private, corporate and institutional events
- A growing community of locals, expats and travellers who feel connected to Spain through food
That combination is what makes this recognition so meaningful.

Bringing Spanish Products to the Maltese Market
Behind every plate, there is a product. And behind every product, there is a place.
At Iber&Co and Casa Pepa, we work with carefully selected Spanish wines, cheeses, charcuterie, conservas, olive oils and sweets — products that carry the flavour of Spain and the work of Spanish producers.
Our mission has always been clear: to make these products accessible in Malta while keeping their authenticity intact.
Not everything Spanish is the same. Not every ham, wine or cheese tells the same story. That’s why selection matters.
Whether someone discovers Manchego for the first time, takes home a bottle of Spanish wine, or joins a tasting at Casa Pepa, we are helping create a small bridge between Spain and Malta.
And that bridge is built one table at a time.
Food as Culture, Not Just Business
For us, gastronomy is not just about selling food.
It is a way of explaining who we are.
A tapa is not only a small plate. It is a way of sharing.
A glass of wine is not only a drink. It is a conversation.
A paella is not only rice. It is a gathering.
This is why we take part in cultural events, school initiatives, tastings, festivals and private celebrations across Malta. Each event gives us the chance to show that Spanish gastronomy is generous, social and deeply human.
The ICEX recognition reinforces that idea: what we do locally can also contribute to how Spain is seen internationally.

A Thank You to Our Community
This recognition is not only ours.
It belongs to every person who has walked through our door, booked a table, trusted us for an event, bought Spanish products at Casa Pepa or recommended us to a friend.
It belongs to our team, who bring energy, humour and care every day.
It belongs to our suppliers in Spain, whose products make the journey with us.
And it belongs to the community in Malta that has welcomed Iber&Co as more than just a restaurant.
You made this possible.
What Comes Next?
We will keep doing what we do best: sharing Spain with Malta through food, wine and hospitality.
More tastings.
More events.
More products.
More nights around the table.
And always with the same spirit: warm, honest, a little loud sometimes — and proudly Spanish.
Because at Iber&Co, internationalisation does not start in an office.
It starts with someone sitting down, taking the first bite, and saying:
“This feels like Spain.”
